How did we get more milage from one litre oil ? why we increase its milage and saving the oil storage ?

Increased mileage comes by making cars lighter, taking more protective metal off of them.

Sure more people die when the car is in a accident, but the environment doesn't suffer as much.

Oil conservation is not like the preservation of books.  With learning the more you keep, the more everyone gets.

With oil, the more you keep, the more you don't use.  Conservation is not the answer.

The question is: what is a sustainable alternative that does all of the functions currently done by oil.

EDIT: There are 6.5 Billion people on the planet.  Without the benefits of USED oil on the planet the maximum number of people that can be supported is about 5 Billion people.  If you turn off the oil today without a viable replacement, ~1.5 BILLION people get to die.
