  1. Just ask them, preferably if they are both at your house at the same time so you can ask them together.

  2. Make both of them an special invitation to the baptism, and on there put their names as godparents!  I'm sure they will be suprised, and I'm sure it would be an honor for them!  Good luck...

  3. I know you want to honor people whom you think a lot of with a special place in your child's life, and that's commendable, but you've got a little complication here that you possibly haven't considered.  The job of godparents, regardless of the religious background of the family, is to ensure that should something happen to you and your husband, your children will be raised in the faith.  For this reason, it's important to choose a couple who would be willing to take your children in and raise them, and to find a couple that is as sincerely devoted to your religious beliefs as you are.  It's a very responsible position.  If a cousin is chosen as godfather and a husband's sister as godmother, then who ultimately .  makes the decision as to where the kids live?  Unless you have it worked out that one child goes one direction and the other child goes in the other (splitting up the family), this wouldn't be workable.

Often, godparents are non-blood-related close friends of the parents, and they become like another aunt and uncle...they are very involved with the child's life...which makes it such a beautiful tradition.  Once again, if you choose two people who are not husband and wife to each other, that complicates this process.

As to how you ask someone, it's a high honor, but also a big responsibility.  Find a suitable couple who is devoted to your faith and say "we've been thinking...if something ever happened to my husband and me, we'd want to be sure our kids had some place to go, and we'd want them to be raised to know the Lord.  We think a lot of you guys, and we'd like to ask if you'd consider being our kids' godparents."

  4. I just asked my brother by getting an application on facebook called make a baby.  Then I named my online baby the same as my son and made it a boy and then you can pick godparents so I put his name and it sent him a notification.  Hes really into that stuff so he thought it was cool.  But you can just ask them.  Too bad A&W dosent have the godparent burger! lol
