How did you back up your Mac when you upgraded from Tiger to Leopard?

Did you just buy an external hard drive & use a program like Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility, or what did you use?

Did you just click & drag to the external hard drive? Were you able to back up your preferences too, and not just files?

Please give detailed instructions if you can!

  1. You can find step by step instructions for backing up your hard drive, as well as reviews of popular Mac backup software:

    Hope that helps!

  2. I used an external hard disk, formatted it with a Mac file system in Disk Utility, then used rsync to copy my root file system across.

  3. You can go to a computer store and they can do it for you. If you do it yourself its hard and takes a lot of time. I went to CompUSA and it was just $100 and it was perfect.
