My MIL was sick with cancer when I was pregnant. She passed on when I was 7mo. That night after we got back home, we decided to name our son after her. Her name was Brenda Ann, his name is Brendan Andrew.

  1. For my first, my husband and I were making a long three-hour drive.  We just went through the alphabet and threw out names.  When we got to "W" and I said "Westley", we both agreed on it.  For his middle name, we named him after my grandma's maiden name.  She passed away when I was 7 months pregnant with him, and I had a really hard time with that.  So his name is Westley Brady, since Brady was her maiden name.  Because of that, all our kids (we have 4) now have one of their great grandmother's names as their middle name:

Westley Brady (my father's mother's maiden name)

Caleb Hansen (my husband's father's mother's maiden name)

Travis Ives (my husband's mother's mother's maiden name)

Eliza Helen (my mother's mother's first name)

We just really liked the name Caleb.  We were looking for names that started with "T" for the 3rd (long story behind that), and decided on Travis after looking in a baby name book, and Eliza was the name of an ancestor on both our sides.

  2. very creative of you and sweet. :)

  3. That's a very nice way of naming your baby son!

My name was decided by a name maker (or something like that) in Asia. My sister's was made by my parents, and it doesn't have any meanning (compared to my "high wisdom" :D) but it sounded pretty, so my parents decided on it. For our English names, my sister became "Sophia" because of its meaning: wisdom. Mine on the otherhand was because it sounded pretty. :)

  4. We went through a book and I read the names aloud, we stopped at the end and decided on Warren for our son.  The other one's name came from out of thin air... I can't remember how we did it.  I found it on the net as a German name and we liked it,  Hagen.

  5. Thats a great idea! So sweet! We named our son after his father and grandfather who passed on when my husband was 16.

  6. wow! Interesting. My parents put their names together [dad=Tony mom=Marilyn] and got Tomari and then my middle name was in honor of my grandmother[Shelba] and my middle name is Shell. So it's kinda weird but it worked!

  7. Aww that's a great male version of her name. I like that. I decided on the first name just because I liked it and the middle name is after his daddy.

  8. My husbands favorite aunt (he called her his second mom) passed away way too young. She was only in her 30's and her death was really hard on my husband.

Her name was Karen, and my husband wanted to honor her by naming our daughter after her. He switched a few letters around and we named her Karin (pronounced like Corrine).

Her middle name is Rose, which is a longer story. I was very attached to my grandma that passed away years ago. She had long ago told me that her middle name was Rose. My family was in the delivery room and my mom took notice of the birth certificate, and asked how we picked her middle name. I said "it was grandma's middle name" and my mom said "but her middle name was Rita!"

She had told me and my cousins that her middle name was Rose!

  9. My son was named after his father and grandfather Jorge and his middle name is after my father who is James Roy...so my son's name is Jorge Roy :) My daughter's name came from the fact that we are all "J" names...Jorge, Jennifer, Jorge...so we chose Juliana because its not that common and because its was a name that could be translated easily in English and Spanish..being that we are Mexican and Cuban and American decent...and her middle name is the same as mine "Victoria". I chose it because it was also my mothers' (Marta Victoria) and she was murdered when I was 4yr old..so that is where my kids names came from :) My comadre did the same as you recently..she was pregnant and her FIL died suddenly of a heart attack before they knew the babies s*x...the day of his wake they had a Dr's appointment and they found out it was a boy...so there they decided to name the baby after him....Felipe is his name..my cousin also named his daughter after our grandmother...her name was Maria Graciana..and he named his daughter Grace Anne :)

  10. Lola Meghen- Lola was a name that me and my husband both loved, and Meghen was my best friends name, she helped me so much during the pregnancy and was there at the birth

Finn Jacob- Finn again was a name i fell in love with, and in turn so did my husband. Jacob was the first boy i ever loved, and my husband supported the fact that i wanted to remember that. It was pretty big of him to do that, It made m love him even more, if that is possible/

Skye Ariadnè- Me and my husband were completely stumped for name for Skye. She was born with the brightest of blue eyes. When my daughter was two days old, me and my husband were talking when the nurse came in and said "Oh my, would you look at the sky, so blue. It's beautiful." Then i just shouted "SKYE", and my husband picked our daughter up and went "Yupp, this one's a Skye" Ariadnè was chosen by my dauighter, 10 at the time, and she was studying greek mythology in class, and she liked the name , so we used it.

Im expecting twins, and they are to be called

Isabella Morgan- Just love the names

Autumn Rosalie- Just love the names.
