  1. I kind of went with need/opportunity flow, and still haven't stopped yet.

I started in NJ, decided that it was changing for the worst, and didn't want to raise kids there, but without strong parental role models on how to even raise a child, I headed for family down south (KY) who were all about 'family', to more experience that.  We then were invited to a little Victorian town in western PA for a wedding, and being in the landscape biz, discovered that they had no concept of gardening to enhance their beautiful architecture (the whole town incorporated 3 evergreens, some roses, and little else--UGH!!!)...we ended up moving to beautify this little town, which we did.  Along comes hubby's Mom in need of family before dying and we moved to northeast PA, and got wrapped up in a landscape/construction opportunity, and have been here ever since--10 yrs. now.  Close to closing the circle (we're right outside of NJ), but no way I'll ever do that!!!

Anyway...see how things just 'happen'???  I'd still like to explore Colorado, Australia, & Amsterdam...maybe someday...my dream, though, is to 'settle' on alot of land/woods with a long growing season & nice folks around, which I'm sure will come along eventually.

    Good Journey!!!

  2. by your job, I choose to live close to save gas

  3. I have travelled all over the world, relocated my base ten times, starting anew in a new country or state, a new income source, a new home.   Approaching 82 now, I want to settle down.  I selected a countryside location in South Carolina for its cultural activities, its milder climate in comparison with other locations on the East Coast, the cost of living, slow and laid back in an uncrowded environment, yet within easy deriving to major shopping.  Sus.

  4. If all depends were you live. In the United States you can live wherever you want. Just get up and go and start living there. Other places don't allow such freedom of movement. Best you check out with the government before you move if you don't live in the US. But if you live in the US, better hurry if Obama gets elected we will need to secure the precision of the government.

  5. I decide where to live by where I am working. Currently I am living outside the city  where I am working- but the drive is long and with gas prices so high, I am planning on moving closer this summer. Sure I would love to live in paradise, but unless I can work from home or somehow fall into money, I need to live close to where I work.

  6. Stayed in area I was brought up in...very boring but I am very, VERY happy! Been in my present house nearly half my life...22 years now...gonna be here for the rest of it!

  7. I never really decided completley until I was married. Before I was married I stuck close to where I grew up but when I got married we decided to move out of state closer to his family because   it was a better place to raise a family, and the job prospects are a lot better here, although the price of gas will get you everytime......

  8. well i am going to school so instead of me staying on campus i got my own place and got me a feel of the area and if I wanted to stay when I graduate!!! I didn't go but 200 miles away from home so it's driving distance if I want to go home so i would not get home sick!! But my next move is further away b/c I don't like where I am staying the best way to decide is to determine what type of settings you like and things you like to do and research some states or areas that have them even visit the areas and spend sometime there to get the feel of the area b/c somethings are not the same when you move to a area. And never rush into the decision b/c going out on your own is a big decision and you may want to consider the jobs that are available and what type of job you want to do as far as the area as well! Good Luck!

  9. I'm an adult & still aren't sure where I want to live. We moved to Florida for 7 years & are now planning to move to Alaska.

  10. cost of living, proximity to things you like to do, proximity to family, and whether you are an urbanite or suburbanite

  11. i knew that i wanted to live near my family so i was definitely going to stay in Michigan. i also loved the actual city i grew up in because it's a quiet city with great schools and i happen to work in the city so i really wanted to be here! since the market was down, i was able to find a beautiful home in my dream location!

  12. I still haven't decided... I'm not sure I will until I retire..
