  1. I felt very sorry for him.  There has been so much pressure on him since his amazing effort 4 years ago.  This season has not been a very successful one with him at no stage going under 13 seconds and the Cuban breaking the WR.

Failing to even start the event for any athlete must be heart breaking but to do it at a home Olympics with over 1 billion people cheering for your success, it is unimaginable.  I think the kicking of the wall said it all.

A great athlete but I think the overwhelming pressure took its toll mentally and physically.  Hope he'll be able to come back from it.

  2. I was disappointed and yet proud of him. He went out on the field knowing he wasn't gonna make it but did anyway... because of his pride for his country. He definitely wouldn't fake it... it was his only chance to compete at his hometown...

    Best wishes

  3. that meant a better chance for the US

  4. nothing

  5. didn't care.

    he was Australian

  6. I was  a little confused to why he even went out there. He stated the pain was "unbearable" . So I don't under stand why he even tried to run in so much pain.

  7. I felt bad for him.

Everyone there has worked their butt off to be part of the games.  Doesn't matter where they are from...it's been a long, tough road.   He looked to be in a lot of pain too, and that is the kiss of death too for someone going after a medal.  How do you carry on and compete when you're screaming in pain on the inside?

    I'm sure he'll be back...

  8. y would i care... GO USA!!!

  9. i FELT BAD FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS A VER GREAT HURDLER AND I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HIM MATCH UP WITH THE BEST HURDLERS OF THE U.S.

  10. Terrible!! the look on the Chinese people's faces!! I felt for him...he trained so hard...he was in many ways, the person the Chinese counted on to win was Liu Xiang...I'm proud that, even though he himself knew that he probably wouldn't be able to run, that he went out there even after many told him not to on account of his physical condition, he still went out there and tried to give it a go...sure, he didn't make it far, but he still went out there even after knowing that the chances of winning were very slim...

I'm a happy and proud Chinese just knowing that he risked himself for his nation.

  11. Nothing.. I don't familiar with his name..

  12. Terrible

  13. sad, but i'm ok with it. Must have been hard for him though.

  14. I felt really bad for him, not only because he didn't have a shot at defending his gold, but all the pressure that was put onto him.

I have a Chinese friend, who tells me a lot about the Chinese government, and of course it is still communist. You would not understand how much pressure Liu recieves for defending his gold.

It's everywhere. It's basically like Phelphs winning 8 gold medals now, and every single day you see a commercial of him endorsing a product and in 2012 he doesn't even get one gold medal.

To the Chinese government they feel it's humliating, but do him it's unexplainable.

  15. I felt really bad for him, He looked like all his dreams were just slipping away from him and there was nothing he could do. It was hard to have witnessed that, but im sure he'll come back better next time.

  16. Nessa C, you are retarded, does Liu Xiang sound like an Australian name?

I felt really bad for him as this was his only chance to compete at a home olympics. I reckon Rbles was dissapointed too, cause i think he wanted to race Xiang
