My son is peeing in the toliet like a champ, but refuses to p**p in it. Any tips?

  1. I know this may sound gross but after my son pooped in his diaper, I would take it to the toilet and put it there and tell him that is where it is suppose to go.  Then let him flush.  I would just keep telling him that is where it is suppose to go, not in his diaper.

  2. be patient, for some reason it seems to be a big deal to them to p**p in it - peeing always comes first (I have two children and it was the same with both of them, the younger went often to watch what his sister is doing and after a while he did it too...

  3. Sounds silly but I told my boys to p**p and make the water splash.  Make a big deal about watching it come out.  Sounds gross but it worked.

  4. I just recently went through this myself. Success with pee, but just kept pooping in his pants. I tried every possible thing I could think of and nothing seemed to work - not even sticker charts, or letting him go in his pants but in the bathroom to hopefully transition him to the toilet. He would just always freeze. One morning though I noticed that he had to go, but again when I took him to the toilet he froze - held it in. So when I noticed him trying to go in his pants again I took him to the toilet, sat him down, told him I knew he needed to go poopy, and that he would sit there until he went. I gave him some books to look at, and stayed near by, though I didn't want to be a distraction for him. I had no idea if this would work, or how long I should leave him on there. But I knew the problem was fear in going in the toilet, but I hoped that sitting there and really having to go would work. Well, it took about 40 minutes, but then he all of a sudden yelled out "I do 3 poopies" - he had, and he was very pleased with himself. Since then - no problems. Has gone to the toilet every time. Why it worked I don't know. All I can tell you is - keep trying new things until you find something that works. Hopefully we have all given you good ideas to try. Good Luck - I feel for ya.

  5. With our son, we would always tell him that big boys use the potty. Also, when he would actually p**p, we made a big deal of it, so it really encouraged him to continue doing it.

    Good luck! :-)

  6. buy one of those little seats that sit on top of the toilet and tell him that big boys use the big potty. it worked with my son. now he'll go get it himself and put it on the toilet and use his step stool to get up. all by himself. just try some different things. rewards. always make a big deal out of it though. i still do that when he uses the potty.
