How did you know......?

I have read so many times people telling other people not to come out until they know they are ready. I admit I have even said it a few times to some people but I was wondering how do you know when you are ready to come out?

You can feel it in your heart, it kind of controls your mind. I didn't choose to come out because I was outed by someone. But I think you should choose when and how you come out. When I was outed and told my parents I was g*y I felt so much relief when they accepted me, after that I felt my heart wanting me to come out to more people because it felt so refreshing.

the first person I told was my best friend....we were in spanish class in college and i wrote on my notebook "Patrick and D" (bc I had a crush on this super hot guy named Dan) and she was like "Who is D?" and I wouldnt tell her bc I was still unsure she would accept me....so I finally wrote her this long email telling her how Ive known since 9th grade and how I never felt comfortable dating a girl and who the mystery man D was and she was totally cool with it....I felt SO GREAT! Like this HUGE weight was lifted off my shoulders....once I told her I told the rest of my friends and eventually my parents...everyone was understanding...

I think its more to accepting it within yourself, once you feel comfortable with you then you feel comfortable telling others about you.

It is not when you are ready, it is when the people you are telling are ready. I am g*y and I know it, but is my family ready to know? Most of them strongly disapprove, so I will give them more time to enjoy their current social status as having an ideal church family. Then when I am ready, they will have to understand I saw it their way for so many years that they will have to see it my way.
