I will be going to France in July '09 and would like to be able to converse in French. When we went in '06 I just carried around the Rick Stevens' French Phrase book. What system/program did you use or do you recommend? Any feedback on what you tried?

Thanks!

  1. french deluxe is a good software and should help you with the basics.

  2. My parents taught it to me.

  3. Try www.tv5.org free on-line tuition.

  4. take a course

  5. Bonsoir! What I did to learn french was I got a french tutor and the rosseta stone. It was pricey but totally worth it because now I am pretty fluent in french.

  6. I also suggest taking a course. To speak any language properly, you will need formal instruction and teachers to correct your grammar, spelling, syntax, idiomatic expressions, etc. When I'm learning a new language, there are times when I think I've formulated a sentence correctly only to discover later (when I see the corrections on my compositions and such) that there are nuances I don't know about. This is something you won't get through books and language tapes alone. Besides, you will need an environment (such as a classroom) to practice verbal expression and actual conversation rather than just learning the meaning of foreign words. Bonne chance quand même (good luck anyway).

  7. rosetta stone is definitly the best way to learn french ive learned 3 languages from it.

  8. The Berlitz language courses are the Rolls Royce of learning another language.

  9. try french.about.com it's awesome and most of all, it's free!
