  1. I have the same laptop and use a samsung lcd monitor. This is how to use that monitor as your main monitor when using the laptop:

First plug the cable that connects the monitor to your desktop into the same port (should be blue) on your laptop. It is on the left of my laptop

    1. Go to an empty spot on the desktop and right click

    2. Go to personalise

    3. Display settings

    4. The new monitor you plugged in should appear as one of the monitors you can chose in this window

    5. Check the box 'this is my main monitor' and it should now display what is going on on your laptop

If you see a black screen and nothing else, restart and repeat.

  2. i have the same laptop!

but i'm not sure that you can do

there isn't really a point either

  3. I've got a Dell Latitude laptop and when i want to use my desktop monitor i just simply connect the signal cable from the monitor to the laptop. The port is the same as on the desktop, which is blue. I suggest you do this when the laptop is off. On laptop keyboards there is a key labelled "Fn". Its used to access other advanced functions, they are the ones with the writing in a different colour. So when you turn on your laptop press the "Fn" key and another key labelled "CRT/LCD" together or in other laptops its the one with a monitor icon. It should start displaying on the other monitor now.

Hope that did the trick. Good luck!
