I'm taking classification of diseases right now and need to start remembering what number corresponds to each disease. What was your favorite or best method for memorizing all these?

  1. The best method to memorize something is to use association with something ez to remember.  Ex if 5 is for Cardiac then I might remeber that 5 beautiful women might give an old man a Cardiac arrest.  If 8 is for Rheuematoid Arthritis then I might try to remember that my 8 fingers ache--get it Rheumatoid arthritic fingers-get it.  The crazier the association, or the funnier the association the more likely you are to remember it.  With ICD-9 codes you usually, in the work place, have a Coding book that you constantly can refer to.  This seems crazy to have to REMEMBER them all.
