How did you notice, that the world is actually a small place ?

Question

Have you ever met a friend accidentally on the other side of the world ? Tell me, I love this kind of stories ! May be a love story and a happy end ? ;)

I was in Japan on business and on the weekend went sightseeing in a small mountain town.  On the train back to the city of Oita, I met an older Japanese man who came up to our little group and spoke to us in near perfect English (which we didn't hear that often in this area of the country).  He just wanted to talk English because he hadn't used it since he has spent time as a mechanic at a Toyota dealership in the early 70's in the US.  Turns out the town the dealership was located was the town that my group was from!  We talked about the local landmarks of the town with him and knew for sure he had to have been there.

I would have to disagree. I'm on the other end of the spectrum and I think that the world actually quite big.

I flew from Denver to Copenhagen one time. While I was waiting at the baggage carousel, a woman I used to date in Syracuse walked up to wait for baggage from another flight. It turned out we were also booked into the same hotel for the week. One of the better trips, I've taken.

My parents once went to Costa Rica on vacation (they are from Texas) and my dad meet someone from the same town they are from. They were like WOW! We are always kidding with my dad because no matter where he goes he knows someone. I thought it was pretty funny.
