how do you pay for college? what is the big secret?

I know about FAFSA and yes ive applied. im not sure where to find other student loans to pay for the other funds not covered by FAFSA. do you know where i can find this?

how did you pay for the extra expenses?

a job? scholarships?...i know those options, but how about loans.

I know im going to at least get my masters degree so paying in the end doesnt matter right now. its just getting the money now!

  1. I work with college students everyday and it is the million dollar question.

There is a work-study option with financial aid. It is where you work on campus to help pay for your college expenses.

You should do your first 2 years at a community college. Community colleges are great schools and they are so much cheaper. Once you are in your 3rd year, the amount of money you can borrow goes up and should cover an in-state school.

There are quite a few people out there that think higher education is a right. Higher education is a privilege and you it is very hard work to pay for it. Work part time during the school year and full time during the summer. If you do all of this you should get out with minimal debt and a great education.

  2. h**l i wish i knew. im in the same boat.

  3. Listen to FinAidGuy, he's got good advice.  If you can't attend a college on federal fin aid (grants, loans) and scholarships then don't go.  Private loans are evil and shouldn't even be an option.  After a community college (or a good in-state school with a great scholarship) THEN you can borrow money if needed.  Juniors and Seniors can borrow up to 5,500 a year in student loans.
