  1. 1. Pay off existing balances on any credit cards you carry

    2. NEVER be late on a payment to ANY creditor

    3. Monitor your credit (I use myfico.com) closely

    4. Do NOT close old credit cards, they help your score

    5. Learn more by reading finance forums (see below).

  2. Very simply,

1 pay all bills on time.

2 Live within your means. Do not spend money that you do not have the ability to pay tomorrow.

Things like long term loans for houses etc are a bit different. make sure you can pay the mortage every week.

  3. Make sure you have enough in the bank to cover all charges before doing this:

    1) Spend a ton on your credit card.

    2) Let it carry over to the next month (gain interest). You only pay the minimum.

    3) The next month pay it all off.

Voila! Excellent credit! This works by buying a house, car, etc. Never carry a balance unless you are doing this. I did it using groceries, gas, and repairs.

  4. pay all bills on time and in full -- that is it!!! course it helps if you have a lot of assets!!!
