I am studying for my SATs, doing a lot of practice questions and getting stressed out.

What did you do when you were studying for the SATs, any tips?

  1. Not much. I took half a practice test 2 days before and half the day before. I used the website freerice.com.

The second time I did about 5-10 practice questions for each section and nothing else. I scored 100 points higher.

  2. So I actually went into the SAT's without studying at all and managed to pull off a pretty decent score.

That being said, I'll let you know what I SHOULD have looked at to get a better score.

Math - There are lot of little rules that go along with algebra and geometry that I had completely forgotten. Any SAT study book will refresh your mind on these.

Writing -  Do you know if the directions on a compass and the seasons are capitalized? Haha I didn't. Might have cost me some points.

Essay - Make sure to at least have an intro, 2 body paragraphs, and conclusion. Don't overreach yourself when writing. There's almost nothing worse than not be able to finish your essay when the time's up. Believe me. Haha, I unfortunately know.

Good luck and don't stress out too much. It's really not that bad. But remember to bring snacks for in between. It helps :]

  3. I don't remember doing any studying for SATs - I mean, we had to in class, but they aren't major exams, don't worry about them!

  4. You're on the same page as I am. I am currently studying for the SAT's too. Now the key is don't get so stressed out. You can take the test as many times as you want.

Some books that I recommend that you buy include:

The Princeton Review 11 Practice tests for the SAT and PSAT

The Princeton Review Reading and Writing workout for the new SAT

The Princeton Review Mathematices workout for the new SAT

The College Board Offical SAT Study Guide

Now what I would recommend that you do is just study and take the SAT's. If you are not satisfied with your score, you can identify your weaknesses and then study. Then you can take the SAT's again.

Another test that I would recommend that you take is the ACT.

Don't worry, its just a test; but with if you study hard and work hard you will do well.
