Question:

How did you tell the older sibling about a new baby?

I just found out I'm pregnant and we are not sure how to break the news to our 3 1/2 year old son. He is very behaved, loves kids and said he would love a little brother or sister when we asked him before we started trying. But how do we tell him that he actually will be having one, and when do we tell him? What kinda of questions do you think he will ask?

Any advice will help, thank you!

  1. Congratulations! I waited until i'd had my first scan before telling my boys, it was easier for them to see a picture of her, them just to accept there is a baby in my tummy. Be prepared for the questions about how the baby got in there, the chances are as time goes on he will want more detail. Also you may be driven mad by the constant "when will the baby be here" lol.

  2. He probably know whats going on...I think you should introduce it early on who wouldn't want a kid bro or sis...most kids learn to adapt... I think he'll be excited to know about the new arrival most are...so good luck

  3. wait until u start showing, and then tell him, and have him help, like getting ready for the baby and when the baby comes, have him help out

  4. you should probably wait until your at least 12 weeks. sounds awful, but in case the worst happens, he wont have to go through it too. I WISH YOU HEALTH!
