I've heard some strange stories about proposals, but some are really interesting, how was your proposal set up?

  1. we were in Church and he wrote me a note...do you like me yes or no? do you love me? would you date me? will you marry me yes or no? it was so corny but cute at the same time.

  2. My hubby set up the whole day with a homeade dinner, strawberries and whipped cream, made me a cake, and did the actual proposal at the beach...he pulled my ring out and asked if i thought it would fit...then we went to his house and had the dinner and strawberries and cake...

  3. He's British and I am American. We dated for 2 years and are in our mid-twenties.

We talked about marriage and rings so that we knew we were both in the same place relationship wise.  By talking about it, I mean I told him that I wasn't opposed to marrying him should he ever ask as some point in the distant or near future.  That told him he could ask me whenever he felt the time was right for him. I gave him my ring size and a few examples of styles I liked so he could put it away for a rainy day.

I came to visit his family in England one Christmas.  He booked two train tickets from England to Paris, France. He led me, with my eyes closed and my head buried in his chest off the metro (subway) and up a staircase to the center of a stone courtyard.

It was cold, and cliche, but the cliche most girls dream of.  Paris was so romantic and I didn't speak a word of french! He proposed on one knee at the Trocadero overlooking the Eiffel Tower.

The engagement ring was hand made "one of a kind" from a small village jeweler in Uppingham, England.

He's the fairytale romance novel guy I always dreamed about and I truly feel lucky!

  4. he was very sweet, asked my parents for my hand, we all went out for brunch. afterwards he drove me to work and went on to play football.

i work in the e.r. of our city's general hospital and half way thru my shift he was brought in by ambulance.  seems he was tearing after the ball and part way down the field he stopped dead as he realized he had spoke to his parents, my parents, asked my brothers if they had any issues and totally forgot to 'formally' ask me to marry him.  he stopped mid-field and was hit from all sides by the other team.

after the doctors doped him up with morphine and demoral they began putting his dislocated shoulder back in place and setting the broken wrist in plaster.  in his 'higher than a kite' state of mind he made them stop what they were doing, help him get on his feet, and he proposed to me.  everyone clapped, he collapsed, and we were married six months later!

  5. haha,  we picked out the rings and he was gonna leave on a flight in two days so he had to do it soon. I tried to make sure we were somewhere romantic but he was too shy.  plus my sister just got cheated on by her bf she thought was about to propose so we were worried about her well-being. s the last day we were gonna leave a little park we were at n kinda kissing and snuggling n he wouldnt do it! (i know he was nervous cause he didnt eat all day). so finally i said, "are u gonna give me my ring?" haha so he took it out n asked. man, he never would have! too nervous tho he wants it almost more then me!

  6. My now husband and I had been dating for over 2 years, I was in college and he was just back from VietNam and going to school...I was a city girl and he took me camping and white water rafting in Colorado so his friends could get to know me...and at the end of the trip we were floating in intertubes watching the 4th of July fireworks over the water, he slipped a rubberband on my finger and asked me to spend my life with him....I got my beautiful diamond when we came home, but I still have the rubberband....we have been married for 33 years and six kids....

  7. During the week of July 4 in 2006, my then-to-be-husband planned a "surprise" trip to Sausalito, CA, which is across the Golden Gate from San Fran (I knew we were going on a trip, he just wouldn't let me know where or any of the details).

Ended up that he rented a carriage house for a week in Sausalito as well as a hotel room in San Fran for the night of July Fourth. We were able to watch the fireworks over the Bay from our hotel room. After the lights had died down, he proposed (on bended knee).

It was very sweet...well, until he said "It's appropriate we're looking over Alcatraz since you'll be my ball and chain now" - doofus.
