Is this statement true?...

"People from Quebec will use about a hundred special words, such as piasse, boisson, demeurer, chum, blonde, which are great fun to learn and do not pose any problem for mutual intelligibility between the two after a few hours"

  1. Sounds ok, though I think "breuvage" rather than "boisson". I even saw this guy on French tv calling a dépanneur a dépanneur!

Some people claim to have trouble with the accent.

  2. They use Napoleonic French, it's awfull compared to Parisian French.

  3. That's completely true. For a Quebecois living in Montreal.

Quebecois living in rural areas are tough to understand for French people though, their accent is heavier and they use a lot of words and expressions harder to understand.

  4.    The formal language is the same in both countries - Slang is amusing

but you will not build your french with that.
