  1. Spain has better infrastructure. The highways in Spain are not on the level of those in places like the USA, Germany or France, but they are in general much better built, designed and maintained than anything in Mexico where you pay high tolls to drive on lousy roads, with a few exceptions.

Spain has been free of the fascist dictatorship

for 30 years and they seem to be very comfortable with freedom.

Mexico only had it's first free election in 2000 and the people and the media are having a hard time understanding the responsabilities that come with freedom.

Spain is safer than Mexico. Yes they have teh ETA, but the ETA usually give a warning when they plant a bomb where civilians might be; this is not an endorsement mind you. In Mexico you have a higher risk of being kidnapped, raped, robbed, rundown by an irresponsible driver, or murdered than in Spain.

In Mexico in broad daylight people keep their economy cars

behind locked gates, with the alarm on and a bat on the steering wheel. In Spain people park their luxury cars on the street at night, no bat on the wheel, probably with the alarm activated. In Mexico if you have a new car and park it in a public place someone is going to scratch the paint for you. In Spain this sort of vandalism is rare, else they wouldn't leave their Mercedes, BMWs,Jaguars , etc. parked on the street at night. My Mexican friends are always amazed to hear of this.

Except for the fact that the Spaniards are more organized and crime is not as rampant in Spain the people in Mexico and Spain are about the same. The Spaniards are more open minded in general, but as stated have lived in a free society for a few more decades. Mexico is not far behind Spain in the question of openess about sexuality; I think Mexico will catch up in a few years.

Geographically Spain is farther to the north and smaller. There are no Mexican states the size of Spain as someone else erroneously stated. Most Mexican states are the size of New England states or smaller. Oddly the country side in some places is strangely similar. I would say that the countryside in Spain is tidier; Mexicans have no qualms about throwing trash just anywhere.

Because Mexico was a Spanish colony there is much architecture in Mexico that looks Spanish or Mediterranian.

Mexico owes quite a bit to Spanish cuisine.  Chorizo, longaniza (both are sausages), cecina ( cured meat, but not ham), serrano ham ( similar to prosciutto), codfish, moronga and morcilla ( blood sausages), onions, garlic, a nd many herbs and spices which make up so much of Mexican cuisine were introduced to Mexico by the Spanish. Mexico in turn gave Spain chocolate, vanilla, hot peppers and tomatoes. The digestive tracts of several animals are popular in both countries. Spaniards like hearty cheeses Mexicans prefer bland cheeses. With the exception of sauces featuring hot peppers Mexican food is fairly bland. Spanish food is more flavorful in general, but it is not one of my favorite European cuisines. People in both countries like to eat a lot of meat and include  a lot of salt in their diet. Mexicans probably eat a little more fruit and vegetables. Corn is a very important part of the Mexican diet. The Spanish in general do not like corn, they say that corn is for swine.

Both countries are pretty expensive. Being part of the European Union has made Spain pricier than it was ten years ago.

I could go on and on, but in conclusion there are many similarities. Spain seems to be better integrated into modern European culture than Mexico is into modern North American culture although the influence is very present.

  2. well is like asking how different is USA from Great Britain?. just because they talk Spanish doesn't mean they have things in common, actually I don't think they have anything in common, completely different countries.

But I know for a fact tho, they make fun of each other, Mexicans always make fun of them in jokes and vice versa.

  3. We are very different and we don't get along too much.

We mexicans love parties and watching football with corona, Spaniards use to gather in small meetings to talk about many issues.

Mexicans are very spiritual people and spaniards use to be very boasful talking too much.

Both countries have excellent food, but seems that the mexican one has more variety and presence abroad.

Spaniards are very keen on business, while mexicans care more about luxury and exportation.

Spaniards use to go in groups everywhere its a very united nation, while mexicans use to do everything by themselves.

  4. Ufff! Really different. For example, imagine that only one state of Mexico is the size of Spain!! And not beacuse the spanish people arrived to Mexico and give us the spanish language, they can really create the same atmosphere that in Europe. U can see it in google earth and compare! ; )

  5. Very, very different from all points of view. Too much to tell in some words.

  6. night and day.

Spain is a small country...smaller than the state of Texas. the weather is nice and the country is clean and modernized.

their food is not very good. while in Spain I just gave up on Spanish food.  i went to McDonald's and Irish restaurants. in the US and in Mexico Spanish style food is good only because it has been Americanized.

Mexico is a huge country and is in north America! that means it is in a great place (like when a humble house is in a nice neighborhood.)

the food is really good when it is cooked like a Mexican cooks it. oh my god is it good and varied.  El torito is not real Mexican, but its OK.

Mexicans are great people. they are hard working, humble and very resilient.  despite all the corruption in the Mexican government, the people do not give in to feeling like life is not worth living. they do what has to be done to find success. even if that means going to a foreign land to work.

also remember, a Mexican is an American just like a U.S. citizen is an American and a Canadian is American so we understand each other better

the people are rude. or at least appear to be to me (i was raised in the US of Spanish descent).

  7. culturally..  mm well we as Mexican are supposed to be somehow related to those people who are living in Spain , but we are different .

geographically ..  Mexico is much bigger

people-..... the Mexican people are much happier than any European, AS A prove of that , the Mexican birth rate is above replacement level when in Europe is low and Spain has the lowest birthrate ever in the history in human kind.

food.  well the Spanish food is OK , but the Mexican food is worldwide known , sometimes when an english speaker talks about spanish culture  from time to time , the mexican cuisine comes up first  as it were spanish.

overall spain in much more expensive if you are to travel.

MEXICO is much more cheaper, the shared accomodation  is so expensive in  spain that they no longer can afford paying accomodation.

i recommend you read   20minutos.es  is a popular siteof news in spain , get a little help any spanish speaker  and take a looj at the comments  section , you'll find  how I wrote all the things afore mentioned.

spain is at the brink of economic collapse due to a severe housing bubble burst.

    take care.

    g day mate!
