When dead bodies are dumped into the ocean, what are the differences in decomposition from what occurs on land? Will it preserve the body better?

  1. decomposition is quicker under water than on land...

    so if u dump a body under water, u will see the body geeting decomposed faster than when u place the body on land

    this is caused by microorganisms that live in water


  2. Well when there is free access of air a body decomposes twice as fast than if immersed in water and eight times faster than if buried in earth. So yes, keeping a body submersed in water will generally preserve it longer.
