I am 40 and I make $40,000 a year in New York city. I have no dependants and I don't own a home.

  1. Anyone can get financial aid regardless of age or income in the form of federal student loans.  You will likely qualify for Unsubsidized Stafford loans.  If you will be classified as a freshman, you should be able to borrow up to 7,500 per year if you attend full time.  Here is more on the terms and interest rates.
