  1. It's easier to become a pilot outside of the Air Force than in, but it will cost you quite a bit.

  2. You don't have to be in the air force I became a pilot and got a job without being in a military uniform.  The advantage is that they pay for your flight training whereas if you don't go into the military you have to pay for your training and flight time.

Also the military pays better to start than being a commercial pilot when first starting out and you get benifits (my first job didn't have benifits)

Good luck to you which ever way you go it is a fantastic job and a lot of fun

  3. There are some schools but they are quite expensive.

Having USAF pilot's wings impresses prospective employers more than a school, though.

I agree with Tracy, talk with a recruiter and also contact your congressman and senators to see about being appointed to the Air Force Academy. You'll not only be a pilot but come out with a science degree.

My father was pure bird and was so glad to get the free training, as difficult as it is.

My uncle made a lot of money after being an Army helicopter pilot.

  4. Been a pilot for forty years. Never been in the air force.

  5. Enlisted personnel cannot be air force pilots.  You need to be a commissioned officer, which requires at least a 4 year college degree.  Also, military training is very difficult to get, even if you are qualified.  So to answer your question, enlisting in the air force will not help your flight aspirations, it will actually hinder you.

  6. trust me its really easy to become a pilot without enlisting into the airforce... only difference is that if you go into the air force , you dont have to pay for the training... to become a pilot without enlisting  you have to have the motivation it takes and have to be able to pay for the lessons and fly at least once every two weeks.   it is easy to fly... and if you can tell how many fingers someone is holding up in front of you from like 3 feet away you will DEF. pass the physical...  good luck!

  7. Contact an Air Force recruiter and ask what it takes.
