Or does it differ per state?

If you've had minor traffic violations or any kind of interraction with the law does that prevent you from the profession?

  1. Every state is a little different from any other, it's best to check with your local police enforcement agency and gather some information there if possible.

Minor traffic violations can be overlooked, to my knowledge only felonies without pardon can really hold you back from becoming an officer.

  2. Minor traffic violations over 3 years old won't be held against you unless you had about 20 of them.

"Interaction" is no problem. Convictions are.

  3. Requirements and qualifications differ from agency to agency. Minor traffic violation will not usually prevent you from becoming a police officer. Negative interactions with the law could prevent you from obtaining a police officer job. It depends on what the interaction was. Check out

  4. No minor traffic violations you should be fine as long as you had under 3.
