How difficult is it to learn fingerpicking with the guitar? Is that intermediate level?

If you learn to read the tablature charts, then learning the patterns is VERY easy.  Mastery comes, of course, with practice.  Simple patterns are learned quickly.  More complex patterns take more time.

Its not hard to learn. Once you play enough songs, your fingers will simply jump to the notes. Ive played for about two years, and finger picking is pretty easy for me  up to about the seventh fret, if that gives you an idea. It depends though on what kind of control you have over your hands, it can vary. Dont give up on it though, because its the easiest way to learn songs and you will be glad you know how.
