I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and I have decided that I would like to move to Scotland in a few years. At first I wanted to move to Ireland [my last name originating in Ireland] so I thought I would trace down my ancient family roots. But my mom thinks that Scotland would be better [Scotland being my second choice], because there are wars and bombings going on in Ireland. Don't get me wrong, I love living in America...I just felt that I would like a change in my life. So sometime after college I was thinking of moving to Scotland. I do want to travel and this is one step closer to my dream of traveling and taking beautiful pictures in Scotland [and Ireland]. I also adore both Irish and Scottish accents. I'm only 17, but I feel so sure about this. And it's only a few [about 5 or so] years away.

So my question is to anyone that knows, or has experience moving from America to another country...How difficult is it? What's the hardest part of moving? [mainly] paperwork?

  1. The hardest part about moving is getting used to different foods, customs, laws, rules, etc.  You cannot move to a new country and EVER think that you or your old country is any better than where you move to.  You must accept what you experience and learn from it.  P.S.  Ireland isn't as dangerous as the US.

  2. Just so you can make a more informed decision about where to move Ireland is very safe these days. Theres no war going on in the South and as for bombings the last one in the south was about 15 years ago.

I moved from Ireland to America and the paperwork was a real pain for me. I'm not sure about moving from america to Ireland, have a look here: http://foreignaffairs.gov.ie/home/index....  to see what you need to move to Ireland.
