I have a 1988 f150 with a 315w and a 1990 f150 with a v6 both are fuel injected. I plan on doing an engine swap putting the 351 in the 1990 f150. would i have to change the wire harness and computer? thanks.

  1. I think you are in for more than you can handle. The computers will not match the engine and Why the h**l would you want a carb less power less mileage.... So I would tell you to leave it alone.... maybe rebuild the original engine.

  2. Switching EFI to Carb is a lot of work. Throttle cables, linkages, computer, and lack of information are only the tip of the iceberg. If you are switching two EFI motors with each other and you own the donor vehicle... that sounds like fun! I have done it in the past and I have found that it is easier to use the entire powertrain and make a driveshaft with a custom length.  Label everything before you take it apart. If you don't own one, get a decent digital camera and take pics of everything before you take it apart and as you are dismantling everything. Just a little advice to make the install easier. Expect the entire process to take about twenty hours + fabrication of brackets.
