How do 8 to 12 year olds communicate?

im 11, and we usually lightly tease eachother and lower eachother's self esteem, but only in our circle of friends cuz our circle of friends knows were just joking around. you should just casually talk to them, we should listen unless were really messed up.

Advice is that you don't treat them like little kids. Don't think they don't know about adult things, they probably know a lot. And a lot of girls that age don't like dolls (or won't admit it).

aahh.... i dont know if u know about it but there is this new fangled concept right.... its where these things called 'Words' come out of your mouth... its Called 'Talking'!

other than that, they communicate by text messages, emails or msn etc...

Don't talk down to them.  

At this age they know enough to realize when an adult is doing that.

Talk to them like a normal person, but don't necessarily make every word one from adult vocab.  Introduce some new words every now and then so they think you believe they are up to "adult" conversations, but basically use vocab. they understand.  

Topics include game systems such as Wii, Play Station 3, Xbox. and cool games, music, iPods, texting, & blogs.  My daughter enjoys anything animals & Webkinz.

They communicate by talking.  If they're deaf, they might communicate with sign language.

We should communicate with them in the language that they speak as well as communicate with them with respect.
