I have just rescently gotten into watching the boxing matches, I just wondered how the athletes score their points? I've seen punches where no one gets a point so I was just wondering.

  1. No, there are five judges and three of them have to record the hit within one second or it will not score. In the event of a flurry of punches the judges wait until it is over and may award a point to the fighter who got the better of the exchange.Punches must be made using the marked part of the glove, and contact the head or the body above the waist. Punches to the arm, or punches with no force will not count. There are other rules regarding most aggressive or best defence, but only used in the event of a tie.

  2. You have to make a clean hit with the white part of your glove in the scoring area on your opponent. (for pukebob's benefit the scoring zone means the head or torso but not the arms)

there are 5 referees who judge when a hit is made. I believe they push a button for  a hit and 3 have to push the button within about 1 seconds of each other for a point to be awarded.

  3. you have to make a clean hit with the white part of the glove
