Question:

How do CBEST scores convert?

I just recently took the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST), and received my scores as follows.

Reading: 60

Math: 65

Writing: 63

Total Score: 188

My question, for teachers or anyone who knows, with evidence, how that converts in a ranking of scores. Is that high? Average?

Thanks!

  1. They specifically don't say where you rank.

They don't want the score to be used against you when you are looking for a job, meaning that someone with a 200 score will somehow be considered "better" than someone with a 175.

It is also a criteria-based test...meaning that it is possible for everyone to pass or everyone to fail...so the average is different for each time it is given.

Districts, the CDE and the CTC are only interested if you pass.

Sorry I can't be more useful.
