  1. It's not illegal to own a gun in Canada.   It's illegal not to register your gun with the government.

  2. It's just handguns that you are not allowed to own along with other types of guns like assault rifles.

  3. Gun ownership is not illegal in Canada..... Who told you that?

  4. LOL Gun ownership isn't illegal in Canada.

  5. We are allowed to own the types of guns used for hunting...........handguns which are specifically used on people, no.....and why would we want to?? Protection against a crazy? Is everyone bearing arms really the answer to that? There would be senseless killings out of fear everyday..........but as an American you must be familiar with that already....

  6. Technically Canadians do have the right to keep and bare arms.  They had it in England at the time of confederation so it automatically became a Canadian law.  A few months ago a judge even said that gun ownership was a right.  But it's a heavily infringed upon right.

Most non automatic long guns are legal.  And some handguns are legal, there are barrel length restrictions and .25 and .32 centrefires are banned.  You need to be licenced to purchase one and the guns themselves must be registered.

If someone goes crazy and started shooting people we a screwed because only important people like judges and politicians get concealed carry permits.  Tasers are banned and it takes some serious doublethink to carry pepperspray or a knife for self defence.

  7. Another casualty of the propoganda machine.

If I want to buy I gun, I go to a store that sells them.

I need to have a permit and register it, but I have to do the same thing with my car.  Plus I need to insure my car, so it is actually easier to get a gun than a car.

I don't need one.  I have an exacto knife.  don't laugh.  do you realize how many crimes can be comitted with an exact knife? convenience stores can be robbed with them.

I also own a hammer.  I've seen reports of cab drivers killed with hammers.

Guns would just be overkill.  pardon the pun.

But seriously.I know lots of people with guns.  most people just don't want them, that's all.

  8. Hunting riffles and hunting shot guns are not illegal, concealable people killer guns are.

Armed RCMP?  I guess we prefer to take our chance.  1) You only see them writing speeding tickets, there is never any around when you need them.

    2) They are more likely to taser people.

EDIT:  NO!  There are no Canadian Rights when it comes to weapons.  Canadians enjoy an "allowed privilege" to own a registered hunting weapon if you have taken proper handling courses and agree to follow proper handling practises such as double locking.

  9. Umm why would a mountie go insane? Lol! And even if you did have a gun whos to say thats gunna protect you from being shot? A gun is not some invisable bullproof shield...?

Guns are not illegal in Canada. You have to have a permit and usually a hunting licence to own one. But if you're definitly hunting with it then you definitly need a hunting licence. Its the same as the states, you still need a permit for a weapon. We just have stricter laws that are more enforced then the U.S.

Although we've had shootings Canada is a bit safer then the U.S. when it comes to that. Watch the movie "Bowling for Columbine". It talks alot about how the U.S. and Canada are different for guns.
