  1. I don't think they really care, I mean I met a few in Shanghai, and no one seem to be paying attention to them.

  2. I'm sure they are excited about the boost in their economy. Money is being spent in restaurant's, in souvenir stores and for taxis and buses, what's not to love? Besides, there are tourists from around the world there, so they may not all recognize an American from an Australian or a British person or someone from Europe. I lived in Russia with a Russian girl for a while who spoke awesome English but she couldn't tell the difference between different accents and couldn't tell where people were from. I'm sure there are so many tourists around right now that Americans don't necessarily stand out above the rest.

  3. As an American who has been to China, many of the people like us a lot! They don't get a lot of exposure to Americans, but if you are able to communicate with them, most of them will be excited to talk to you! Many are a bit shy, though, so you may have to make the first move with conversation, but if you make them feel like you are willing to talk to them, many of their faces light up. My Chinese is not good at all, but I made friends with a random shop owner simply because I greeted him after he greeted me and asked him his name (I wouldn't ask that in America, but I was trying to use my Chinese, and he looked like a patient person). He told me he never really communicates with the foreign customers, because he is not confident in his English, but he opened up to me quite easily after I showed him that I was willing to talk to him. I never expected that I'd end up visiting him throughout my stay!

Most of the foreigners in China (aside from other Asians) are from Europe, so Americans are more rare. Although the Chinese are disappointed (and sometimes annoyed) at hearing the negative views of their country from other nations, they have actually mostly retained positive views of those same nations. It is Americans who have issues with Chinese, but not so much the other way around. They have a LOT of misconceptions about how Americans live and behave, but most have positive feelings about the United States.

(As a sidenote: Tourists don't often come into contact with the locals on any sort of meaningful level, so if you really want to meet people and talk to them, you will have to make an effort. Of course, your guides in China will most likely be Chinese, so you can always talk to them, but if you are not content with that, you will need to be the one to make the effort to get to know people, because tour groups are often closed groups that Chinese citizens would not disturb)

  4. Don't give a c**p.

  5. Probably hate them, but don't show it...........

  6. I can't tell the difference between Americans, Canadians and Europeans...Sorry

  7. Don't care.

  8. seriously speaking, the common people in china do not really care about political issues. they just go about their daily lives the way they're supposed to.

  9. The Chinese used to love Americans! I remember visiting relatives in China and the moment they laid eyes on me, they somehow knew I was an ABC. Now, because of the expanding economy, Americans are not as enviable, but most of my relatives who live there still admit that they still admire Americans a little. They just don't approach them because of the cultural/language barrier.

  10. It's definitely not hate, but not quite love.  I'd have to say curiously amused.

  11. We welcome all travellers from the world. We hope you could also love this ancient country as we do, and we could provide the best service. See the details at www.startravelchina.com.
