Question:

How do Christians feel about other so called Christians they disagree with?

Reason I ask is because I grew up in the church with parents of strong faith. My church was great, an open forum for everyone to discuss their issues, thoughts and to debate the interpretation of the bible.

What do you do when you come across Christians that you find misinterpret the bible, acting and talking in ways that you disagree with? Does it make you angry that they are giving religion a bad name to other people or spreading a word that you think is dangerous and damaging?

  1. It does irritate me to see people confess Christianity and act like the rest of the world.  We are suppose to be examples of Christ and when they tell others they are Christians and don't actually follow Christ, people who aren't Christians see how they act, and think all Christians are like that.  Lukewarm Christians are damaging to the true believers.

All we, as true followers of Christ, can do is portray what a real Christian is like, we need to portray Christ by doing His will and living the life Christ told us to live.  Then hopefully the non-believers will see there is actually a difference between the true believers and those who just say they are.  Because actions speak louder than words.

  2. Both: makes me angry, and I think it's dangerous and damaging. Not only are they driving people away from Christ preaching fear, prosperity or other misinterpretations, but they also hurt other believers who want to follow Christ by trying to "train" them in incorrect paradigms.

  3. I don't feel anything, there is aways somone to misinterpret something and with so much religious teaching how can they be sure, but people who use it to hurt others and oppress them makes me angry.

  4. I might tell them what I think if what they're doing is damaging to others.  After that I believe it's up to God to take care of it if they're doing something wrong.  I don't think I'd be angry.

  5. hurt.

  6. I don't think of it as "that christian or those christian" I think of it as "that person".  When an asian does something wrong do you think "those asians"?.  I can tell you about plenty of goofy christians and nut job christians, but there behavior has no bearing on christianity.  Just the same as a nut job atheists has no bearing on atheism.

So I put things into perspective and consider the source and not the ideology?

  7. Dog,

it's unfortunate that there are those who hurt the kingdom of GOD by continuing to be of the world but remember it is written in the bible about this so GOD isn't surprised and neither should you be...we need to continue our studies of the HOLY SCRIPTURES and seek with diligence the LORD GOD and the HOLY SPIRIT and pray for these people because prayer changes things! GOD can handle the small stuff..keep setting the example of CHRIST!!

  8. All the different  answers show how different every-body's RELigious perspectives are.

God keeps the 'salt' in the religion so the discussion  won't ever end........................................

  9. I just listen. I have never had someone answer the toughest questions about before earth life, earth life and after death than LDS folks.

  10. Seems like you took the words right out of my mouth. I do disagree with many other Christian teachings, especially pertaining to pentecostal and charismatic churches. I believe that they take much of the scriture out of context. I do not think they are going to h**l but I do believe that they are not getting the sound doctrine teachings that the Bible provides. It seems to me that many of these churches focus more on how much tithe money they get in the offering plate and being men pleasers more than God pleasers. I do not have any problem with tithing, in fact I strongly encourage it. It also seems to me that they turn Gods house into a circus, sometimes more like a carnival, with all the false healings and speaking in tounges, which the Bible does not support. I do believe in the healing power of the Lord, but not in the way that these churches perform it. Healing is accomplished by the faith of the person needing it and by the complete believing of prayers provided by fellow believers. Like I said, I don't think that all these people are going to h**l, I believe whole heartedly that there are many true believers in these churches, my problem is with the false teachings that these churches provide to those who have not read the Bible themselves and therefore give these people a waterewd down version of Gods Word and then perform all these silly circus acts and tell these newcomers to the faith that they must be able to do these things as well in order to prove their salvation. Jesus said many will say Lord Lord havn't we done many mighty and wonderful works in thy name, and he will say depart from me ye that work iniquity, I never new you. It  IT IS NOT ABOUT WORKS, IT IS ABOUT A TRUE FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST

  11. I feel pity for them, with all due respect.

BTW, to know what I believe, please read my profile. You will know Christians are not all what you thought they were. I should be honorred if you would. Thank you.

  12. It depends. If I see that someone disagrees with my view on Predestination vs. Free will, Young Earth vs. Old Earth, or other things of the sort, I don't mind at all. However, if I see someone totally contradiction Biblical teachings, and living life as if God didn't exist, yet still calling themselves 'Christians', then I get frustrated, upset, and very sad. And sadly, this is what I see most Christians doing.
