  1. This is a bizarre question.

And it is entirely possible that some Guatemalans wouldn't have heard of Detroit.  Guatemalans are plenty smart but its a very poor country and their education system seems to be a bit lacking. I recall peasants in backcountry areas asking European tourists how long it took them to get to Guatemala by bus.

  2. well i'm half guatemalan, does that count?

"put your hands up for detroit."

  3. Well......... let me tell you that I live in Guatemala and as a Guatemalan girl I will answer you.

First of all, this is for those who are talking bad about Guatemala.   The geography that schools teach is one of the most completely signatures we have.  We do not limit to our own country, we know perfectly where each country is located in the world.  And in this case, we know perfectly that Detroit is a city of the U.S.

Second, about what we feel about Detroit.... that depends upon many things.   Of course those, who have relatives working or living there, for sure they know many things about Detroit and I am sure that they appreciate this city and its people.  And for those who don´t have relatives or friends living or working there, we are thankful for giving opportunities to our people.

And when I say our people, I am talking not only about Guatemalan people, I am talking on behalf of all the people who have the opportunity to work and live there.

  4. Isn't Japan the Automobile capital of the world?

  5. Would they know it exists?

  6. The Pistons are looking good early, but most Guatemalans probably support teams like the Rockets or Spurs - closer to home.
