How do Hillary supporters feel about Palin?

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) spoke by phone to NBC's Andrea Mitchell on Friday morning about Senator John McCain's selection of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Wasserman Schultz was a strong backer of Hillary Clinton in the Democratic primaries and is known for her interest in women's issues. She told Mitchell, "If John McCain thinks that he can substitute Sarah Palin for Hillary Clinton in the minds of Hillary Clinton supporters he's sadly mistaken. I know Hillary Clinton, and Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton."

"She's been governor of Alaska for eighteen months, and before that she was the mayor of a town of 8,000 people," Wasserman Schultz continued. "She's already under investigation by her state's legislature. ... They voted to spend $100,000 on an investigation, because she is accused of firing a state commissioner who refused to fire her sister's husband. ... This is not the kind of change that we need."

  1. A TRUE Hillary supporter would not support Palin. Palin is a right wing Evangelical, totally conservative and doesn't share any of Hillary's views. So if he thinks he'll win over Hillary supporters just because he picked a woman, just shows what poor judgment he has.

  2. HER ARROGANCE OF COMPARING HERSELF TO HILLARY HAS NO BASIS OTHER THAN HER GENDER.

    NO EXPERIENCE DEALING WITH CONGRESS ON THE FEDERAL LEVEL.

    ANTI-WOMEN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE TO THE EXTREME.

    AND BALANCED HER STATE BUDGET BECAUSE OIL WENT TO RECORD LEVELS.

    HILLARY WILL TEAR HER A NEW ONE AND SHE THEN SHE CAN GO BACK TO KILLING WILDLIFE, DESTROYING THE POLAR BEARS, AND EATING MOOSE- BURGERS.

  3. uhh d**n, well wonder what the Neocons will say when Sarah is carted off to prison?

  4. Here is what a member of Sarah's own party said, a conservative Republican Joe Scarborough, a former Republican congressman, for once he got it exactly right: "If John McCain's campaign thinks he can get Hillary Clinton voters by choosing Palin it is condescending and insulting to women and it is a terrible political faux pax. You don't break through a glass ceiling because of gender or race, you do it on the basis of ability,experience, intelligence and judgment -- all qualities that Governor Palin either sorely lacks or has yet to demonstrate This is a stunt pick that is an insult to truly qualified women like Hillary Clinton or Kay Bailey Hutchison and, by extension, to all women"

  5. Some of us like her. Go check out the PUMA blogs.

    I find it refreshing two non lawyers are running for the Republicans

    Obama camp is just jealous McCain fullfilled Obama's promises before he did.

    McCain=Action

    Obama=Talk of Action.

    .

  6. it was Obama who insulted hillary supporters, not mccain

    take your anger out on the person that deserves it

  7. I think it was a flop... and the only people who dont see it is the republicans... for some reason they think she is the change they need but to be honest to most undecided voters and democrats.. it comes out more offensive than anything else... Just the truth if you want to here it or not...

  8. And how about Obama?

    He helped druggies stay on drugs cause he was one of them.

    He served the state senate seat and did nothing for his state.

    He served 143 days in the nation's Senate and announced his candidacy on day one.  He has not helped America at all.  Only voted 20% of his time there.

    Talk about inexperienced that's your man Obama.

    At least Palin has a better resume than your man.

  9. I think it is going to backfire on McCain for picking a female as his running mate.

  10. I agree, I was a troop leader in the boy scouts do I qualify for something?

  11. I never liked Hillary but i like Palin more then I like McCain now, I feel i can realy get on board with the Republicans then b4, it was a great choice, not for clinton supporters only but for the conservative base as well.

  12. Since the question is how do Hillary supporters feel about Palin, let's answer the question.  I am a Hillary supporter and I am insulted that McCain thinks that we women feel that you can take any woman and substitute her for Hillary.  Can't be done and it just strengthens my resolve to vote for Obama-Biden.  McCain's judgment is obviously impaired by his desperation to win at any cost.

  13. I think McCain made a very well thought out choice.  She is not Hillary, but noone is.  The Dem's are upset that McCain upstaged them with a woman--that he had the guts to choose a woman, and Obama with his lack of experience and huge ego, would not choose the woman that received 18 million votes, but instead took the man that received much less votes.  As for her experience, she has already been in office as governor longer than Obama's 143 days in the senate.   ***

  14. McCain thinks that Some chick by the name of Palin is our new hillary clinton? & He thinks we should be happy?

    Am i the only hillary clinton supporter who is insulted?

    The women that supported hillary wasnt voting for her because she wears a skirt. We voted for hillary because he share our VALUES!

  15. I say we wait and find out what this woman is about.  I am center leaning right, but supported Hillary Clinton.  In a way, I like that McCain named a woman, but waiting to see what her story is and if she is what she says she is.  IF she is, I'll support her.  If not, then I'm not sure.

    I do think it was nasty of the Obama camp to attack her by saying she should be at home taking care of her kids.  If that is the case, then so should Obama.  Or are we going to be sexist?

  16. It might be insulting, but it is really sad when Clinton supporters say that they will vote McCain now because Obama is the Democratic candidate- who is specifically anti reproductive rights, does not care that women are still paid less than men, does not give anything about sexism, (I would be surprised if he knew what the word meant), etc., etc.-So did he really take a big risk, yes.  Is this woman a token for the Republican party? DOUBLE YES! But who made it that way, those Clinton supporters who said they would now vote McCain??? DEFINITELY YES!
