How do I CONVINCE MY DAD to let me have tht CAMCORDER??????

My bday is abt. to arrive (19th), and for tht i was asking for a camcorder (aiptek DV5900), but DAD won't let me HAV it!!!

He doesn't refuse outright every time i try convincing him, so there is a sight of hope. But he asks my reasons I want tht thing, and all I hav:

1.It's my bday

2. one should hav it.........to which he asks "why" and I hav no answer

But then, you know, it's pretty cool to hav such a thing, and it's lik a fantasy for me (sure i won't say tht, or else he'll think i'm into p**n and stuff [i've been caught b4]. And also, we are going to leave for camping trip soon, and I'd lik to hav it there too. So all I need from you guys, is some tips and tricks, so tht I can convince him, QUICK!!

Don't worry about anyone giving you a handout - whether it is your birthday or any other time of year. If it happens, great. If it doesn't, who cares?

Get a job and buy it yourself. Not only will it show your dad you can be responsible, but you are mature enough to do more than sit there and whine about not getting what you want. And I'll bet you take better care of it than if it is just handed to you.

Yes, I know you are going on a camping trip soon - and if you have it, great - but if you don't, it is not a big deal. You have gotten along this far without it.

Especially since you don't know why you want it... figure that out, save your money and take care of the funding yourself.

When our son turned 17 we got him one for his birthday. He showed allot of interest in making videos, and was really very good at it with an old VCR one we had. So, because we knew he was interested in making films, we surprised him with it. If you show your dad that you are responsible enough to take care of it, and that you have a big interest in making films, you might get your wish. Don't push it though..if you give a good argument, such as...Dad, I have always been interested in making my own short movies, or, I would like to be able to see what I can do with my imagination..I KNOW I can take care of it. You will also have to make sure you can afford the film...

With a digital,you can tell him he can check it out anytime he wants,even borrow it if he wants to. You have a history of an interest in p**n, so, you should make it clear right away that he will have total access to any film you take.
