Okay, I have windows XP on my dell and it a blue error screen pops up saying beginning dump of physical memory and it does that every time I use system restore to a previous date. I decided that I am going to re-install windows XP on a brand new slate. The problem is, I tried going to setup and set the IDE CD- Rom device boot first. It was set to first but it's not really doing much of anything. If anyone could give an easy step by step answer, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks =]

  1. It Might not be Windows XP that is your problem.  That sounds like the dreaded, "Blue Screen of Death".   Your motherboard or some other major system component MAY be burning out.

Have a tech look at it.

  2. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new softwares, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info
