What is an Eco friendly way of cleaning my home? I've heard white vinegar for windows, and baking soda for sinks, what about counters and dusting etc...

  1. For counters, cut a lemon in half and use it like a sponge to clean your counters.

  2. there alot of earth friendly product available like seventh generation, clorox green or method. many of these products use a coconut based cleaning agent. These are eviromentally friendly to use, safe for your home and health. You can use a scunnci steam cleaner to blast soap scum. for dusting I just lightly dampen a clean microfiber cloth and wipe down surfaces then wash it. For counters I use my eco friendly cleaners. for mopping I have a "star mop" with a removable and washable pad. Sponges can be rinsed with water and placed int he microwave to sterilise them.

  3. I use and recommend Organic Basic H2.  It's nontoxic, super concentrated, natural, biodegradable surfactants, and no phosphates.  16 ounces makes 48 gallons of cleaner - removes dirt, grease, and grime from any washable surface, inside and out.

Also, it just received the PTPA (Parent Tested Parent Approved) seal of approval.

  4. I use vinegar for the floors mostly.

But, it can be used on most surfaces, that can get washed / wet.

The baking soda for the sink, including the drain.

Get the pipes hot, turn the water off,

put in a nice small pile of baking soda in the drain,

put enough that it becomes a smalll mound...

like a teeny tiny little mountain....

then the vinegar, bit by bit.

The b.s. is an abrasive, and the vinegar an acid.

It will bubble and fizz, kinda like alka-seltzer,

continue w/ the vinegar until mostly all of the b.s. is dissolved.

    Then turn on the HOT water, let it run;

run all the stuff in the pipes down and out, 2 minutes, min.

For dusting, a clean, soft, damp cloth.

    The material u r dusting,

dictates what cleaning product to use.

I use Lemon Oil for wood.

    Not spray bottle, furniture polish.

It's sold in a bottle, w/ other cleaning supplies.

It's natural, and the lemon aroma is great.
