How do I Record my computer screen?

In Video Tutorials on youtube i see people literly record their computer screens. How do i do that. I am running windows xp.

I like the opensource camstudio .

It also records audio, so you want to make a tutorial for a certain application. Also, it does not require you to record the entire screen, it has options to have certain areas cropped off. The new version can export to flash files. I have used this at work myself for presentations it is really great!

I think DemoCreator can do this for you. It is an easy screen recording program. You can publish the .avi files to upload to Youtube.

The software hypercam is very good

if you download from the website there will be an annoying tag saying unregistered hypercam
