My 80 G Hard-Drive is getting Full, and I'd like to switch it to my 250G Drive C to D...

How can I do this. They are internal, and run very well

I'm aware of "Ghost", but it seems like a waste of money just to but software for a one time use....

  1. I'm guessing that you have hard-drives like mine, the non-IDE cable ones, the ribbon ones, and you have the single cord one.  For those, just turn off the computer, and switch those cables around, however you need to have an OS installed on the 250G.

  2. There is no way to directly change it. you wpould definitely need to ghost an image, then turn the current D: (slave) drive into the master.

  3. Your best bet is to copy file and folders to your D drive because switching over drive If you can would stop windows booting as it is set to boot from C

You must start installing programs to D to conserve space on C

  4. why bother???

you can move your my docs folder to the d drive using a registry hack.

then do the same with your programs, albeit by uninstalling them and then reinstalling to d:\program files

eventually you will be left with your OS on the smaller drive (which would never need 80gb.)

you could also improve performance by moving the swap file to d:

btw a free image cloning program

  5. 1. Right click My Computer

    2. Click Manage

    3. Double click Storage

    4. Double click Disk Management

    5. Right click on your drive

    6. Click change

    7. And select whatever letter you want for your drive

But you won't be able to start your system after this...

    Unless you reinstall :-D
