Hi - I'm not sure what's happening but up until a couple of hours ago my Norton 360 Auto-Protect was ON -Green bar at top? I have gone into Advanced tasks & Settings, checked the box to turn it back on, and re-booted! It still comes up with RED "Browsing Not Safe" Auto-protect Off...

Please, serious answers only...

Thank you?! I'd really appreciate it!

  1. You could have a couple of different issues.

    1) Try cold booting first (turning off the computer totally in order to clear the RAM.  If that doesn't work it's probably the next point.

    2) You likely picked up a worm.  There are several that immediatley disable Norton.  try running a virus scanner from an online source such as Trend Micro, this should detect anything you might have picked up (it happened once to me as well).  I've attached the link for trend micro to this post.

  2. Have you updated Norton lately? Try that.

I hate having windows update turned on and I turned it off. I then had the same problem you seem to be having. Are you set to receive automatic windows updates?

I also had a problem that I could not solve and went and clicked on support. If you do it on line you can get some immediate help. It was a real life saver.

Sorry if I can't be of any more assistance. But I think you're best bet is to try support.
