  1. --Your Internet Provider assigns every person a remote IP (http://www.ipchicken.com ) Use this to find out yours.

--Your Router assigns each computer on the home network a local IP (192.168.x.x)

To set up Remote Desktop for a computer:

    1) Open up your router control panel by going to (http://192.168.1.1 ) or (http://192.168.2.1 if that won't work) The default username is "admin" with password "password" or sometimes "admin" and no password at all.

    2) Open the Port Forwarding Option

--The default port for Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is 3389 TCP/UDP

Add this port to the list and assign it to 192.168.x.x (where the x's denotes your home computer. Start port is 3389 and end port is also 3389. Server IP is asking you "which computer will I send you to when you try to connect to me?"

    3) On your computer outside of your house:

    Start > Run > mstsc > your-home-IP-from ipchicken.com:3389

  2. You have to login to the router, usually it would be something like http://192.168.1.1/ you have to go through the manual.

You can configure the router to point to the ip address you want, if any requests come to the basic ip address.

  3. use something like MYPC. It works wonders!

  4. you first have to turn on the option to configure your router over the net.

u should also be able to pick ur own ip address of your choice.
