How do I activate my W580i on Vodafone?

I just got a W580i on Vodafone, now how do I activate it or make i twork so people can call me. I tested this by using my old phone by dialing my W580i Vodafone Number, but then on my old phone a message said,

"Number Error

Retry?"

What do I do.. HELP PLEASE?
