Question:

How do I add a Yahoo Group to my My Yahoo page when there isn't an icon at the bottom of the messages list?

Following the instructions given here in answers to earlier questions on this topic, I looked at each of the 6 or 7 groups that I belong to, Only one of them had the little icons for adding that group to My Yahoo and RSS at the bottom of the messages page (by the way, NOT the group's home page which is what one or more answers suggested).

I'm guessing there must be SOME kind of work around for a group member who wants to add a group to his/her My Yahoo home page when there ISN'T one of those icons to click on.

Can anyone tell me what that is?

Thanks in advance.

  1. I guess you wanted to use RSS so that you could actually view the messages on your My Yahoo page.  You can only do that with groups that have a Public message archive so if you don't see the appropriate icon, use the next best thing, as suggested by moekittykitty>  :-)

    Hope that helps!

  2. Why isn’t there an RSS feed for my group?

    http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/groups/...

Since RSS is used as a way to read/aggregate public content on the web, this feature is only available for groups with messages set to "public" (no membership required).

only other way is the promote code- add it to the group description

  3. Sure, it's easy.

    Go to your "My Yahoo"

Right underneath the Search line on upper left side of page, click on "Add Content".

Underneath Browse by Topic, click on "My Yahoo! Essentials".

    Scroll down to "Bookmarks".

Click "ADD" located to the left of Boomarks.

Scroll down to the very bottom of page and click on the gold colored "Finished" button.

Go back to your "My Yahoo" and click on "Bookmarks" located on upper right side of page.

Click on "Add" to the right of "My Bookmarks".

This will pull up a page where you will add your group's site URL, the Group's name and your comments.

Click "Save" or Save & Add Another".

If you have a lot of groups and dont want to repeat this individually for each of your groups, you can use the URL of your own "My Groups" page - it would be http://groups.yahoo.com/mygroups .  That way you could click on that bookmark and it would pull up a list of each of your groups on one page.
