I'm trying to add an insignificant zero to an excel cell....but whenever I press enter the zero disappears. Is there anyway I can get around this. I do need the zero though. Can anyone help? :)

  1. You can convert the number to text by appending a ' sign before the number with the insignificant 0.

    Like '014 instead of 014

  2. Select the cell(s) you want to change this on, and right click.

    Pick "format cells"

Change the category to whatever fits your needs best. If you pick the "text" category, the cell with display exactly what you type into it.

  3. type this one in the cell:

    '0 + desired number

  4. if its insignifican  (t) why do u need it?

    you've done without it b4.

    u can do without again.

    if u capital B leave....

  5. put a single quote then type zero and then numbers. this will take care of it. you 'll see the numbers with zero appear in the cell.

  6. Change the cell format, if the cell format is set to number then zero counts as a null value hence the value disappears as it is null. Right click the cell and select format cells and change the option as apropriate, changing the options may affect formulas that use the cell values though.
