How do I add programs to a safe list?

I have PC-cillin 06. Its up to date. Anyways When I play a program that requires a download then access to the internet, I have to turn off the personal fire wall. Which I'm not to happy with as it gives me a risk of a virus. Is there anyway was to add a program to the safe list so I can play as the firewall stays up? Thank you

Also I'm currently play a game called Mabinogi. As there might be some freaky way that is different then normal to add to the safe list.

You can put most programs that you have problems with because of the firewall settings " Behind Windows Firewall". Go to Start> Control Panel> Below Security where it says "Allow a Program Through Windows Firewall"  and follow directions. Do not turn your firewall off as you need it for protections, as I said just put the program through (behind) windows firewall.  I hope that this help, good luck.
