How do I add subtitles to a home video for free?

I am using Windows Movie Maker Vista and I don't wanna chop all of the scenes into little sections to do it.

  1. If you're using windows movie maker... just scroll to the part of the movie you want to add a subtitle and click "add subtitle", type in what you want it to say. Done.


  2. drag your vid into the timeline ,then, the section where it shows the video (black screen , until you select a part of the vid to play) it shows 2 buttens at the bottem below the play,stop,fast foward, etc. it shows a butten that looks kinda like film and scissers , click that on the part right before the scene that you want to add a title to and click where you want it to end and click the scene and click add title
