How do I adjust brakes on 1971 Dodge Sportsman van?

We just replaced all the shoes and are having problems adjusting them up. They are solid but the peddle is "too long".

Is the pedal going to the floor or are you trying to pass a state inspection?

You may need to do an inspection of the brakes to identify the problem, some places offer this as a free service and you may get them to adjust the brakes if this is all that's needed. Good luck!
