The brake light doesn't come on as soon as the brakes (front or rear) are applied, only about 1/3 or 1/2 applied. How is this usually adjusted?

I know, I know, look in the manual, but it didn't come with one and I haven't gotten one just yet.

  1. the rear brake light switch is located right by your rear brake pedal you will notice that it is threaded in place by turning the nut in or out you can increase or decrease the travel of the pedal needed to make the light come on.as for the front I dont think there is any adjustment.

  2. Chopperchopster is right about the rear.

The front may be slightly adjustable. My '79 was.

Funny thing, after all these years my manual popped up yesterday. Was in storage.

  3. i've never seen a front adjuster, but as soon as you hear or feel the click on the front, your brake light should come on. as for the rear. there should be a threaded adjuster near your brake master cylinder.
