How do I adjust the brightness of my Xp laptop?

Question

I have a dell laptop and I want to conserve power by lowering brightness. How do I do this?

This might help: Keys f8 and f9 have what look like brightness adjustments (a sun with an up or down arrow), but when i press them, nothing happens.

Hold the Fn key when you hit them, should work after that.

You have to hold down the Fn key (next to the CTRL & Windows keys) + F8 or F9

I use the fn key plus the up & down arrow keys to brighten and dim my Dell laptop's screen.

you need to use a combination of keys, look for somethng like "fn" button on your keyboard and press together with f8 n f9

You need to hold the Fn key when you press the brightness adjustments I think.  If the sun icons are blue and the Fn is blue, then that's the thing.
