  1. Think long and hard about this before you proceed.  I would hate to see your girlfriend daughter hurt anymore by a quick decision to adopt.  If it's right for everyone,  talk to a lawyer.  I might even be able to find a "ask a lawyer" forum online.  Make sure the info you get is for you actuall state, I'm sure laws differ from state to state.

Good luck and I hope the best for you and your "whole" family.

  2. i have questioned the same thing call births deaths and marraiges they can give you all the info you need

  3. if you are planning on getting married anyway, then it would be easier to adopt her after you are married.

  4. first you need to get married, then you apply for the adoption. the courts will investigate and the child will be appointed a guardian atlitum(sp). if they find you a good father figure, the courts will grant the adoption. is she going to adopt your son as well?

  5. most or all states says you must be married a couple years to do step parent adoption

  6. Marriage, and then have an attorney, file the application in court.

  7. Marry your girlfriend.

  8. I would contact a lawyer first.  They will know what to do next.

  9. Yeah, I agree with everyone else! You should get married first and then get a lawyer.  Its great that you all have such a happy family! GOOD LUCK!!!

  10. Go to the court house and ask the circuit clerk for the procedures and papers to adopt your girlfriends daughter.  Ask if it's necessary for an attorney.  You will definately have to fill out paperwork, pay a fee and go before a judge.  He can then terminate the fathers rights.  Depending on the state procedures   are different so it's best to find them out at the court house.  You might also contact an adoption attorney who offers free consultations and ask these same questions.  If he's willing it's just a matter of getting through the process.  Best of luck.

  11. See an attorney to help you through the process.

  12. Call the municipal mayor in your town or city.  The mayor will help you go through all the adoption steps.

If he is busy, your church minister is a good possibility to walk you through the process.

He is just a phone call away!

  13. get married 1st..makes thing way easier

  14. with what ever you do get a lawyer or you will be sorry in the long run. its best for you and shouldn't cost too much have them quote prices before you hire them. take care and good luck
